Trip overview
Experience the slower side of Mongolia on this 7-day small-group trip through Central Mongolia, where the highlight is spending meaningful time with a nomadic family in the Orkhon Valley. Unlike many tours that offer only a brief overnight stay, this itinerary includes 3 days and 2 nights with your hosts, giving you the opportunity to experience everyday nomadic life beyond the usual tourist visit.
Your journey begins in Ulaanbaatar, where you’ll explore Mongolia’s cultural and historical landmarks before traveling to the Semi-Gobi to experience its unique landscapes and enjoy a camel ride. From there, continue to the UNESCO-listed Orkhon Valley, where you’ll stay with a local nomadic family, take part in their daily routines, ride horses across the open steppe, and gain a deeper understanding of one of the world’s oldest living nomadic cultures.
Before returning to Ulaanbaatar, you’ll visit the ancient capital of Kharkhorin and Erdene Zuu Monastery, Mongolia’s oldest surviving Buddhist monastery.
With a maximum of six travelers, this journey offers a personal and immersive experience, allowing for genuine connections with your hosts while exploring the landscapes, history, and traditions that define Central Mongolia.
